I'm Sam. This is what goes on inside my head.

this, people of the internet, is Jon Favreau. he is Barack Obama’s head speech-writer, and he’s only 31 years old. he joined the Obama campaign in 2005, when he was 24. Obama says Jon is his “mind reader” - they collaborate extremely closely on speeches, and he has been responsible for some truly spectacular pieces of writing, such as Obama’s inauguration, and what I think is one of the best speeches he’s ever done at the memorial for the victims of the Arizona shooting.
to me, he is the Sam Seaborn of speech-writing. and while Obama is an extremely commanding presence in front of a podium, and an eloquent, passionate speaker… as a writer myself I’d like to make sure people know how crucial speech-writers are to successful political campaigns.
and in the words of Mr. Seaborn (or Aaron Sorkin…) himself: “Oratory should raise your heart rate. Oratory should blow the doors off the place.” and as we all understand, oratory is not just about speaking confidently. it’s about what you say. and for that, we thank this man.
