it’s official.

I went and saw a psychologist today, who gave me a lot of questions to fill out, and then she asked me a bunch of questions that made it really hard for me to hold myself together. one of them revealed what I think is one of the biggest struggles I’m facing lately, which is that I don’t seem to have many friends. so I cried a lot when talking about that. afterwards, I went back to my GP, and filled out some more question sheets. according to both doctors, I scored in the “extremely severe” category for anxiety and depression, as well as the “severe” category for stress. I’ve been prescribed medication, and he lodged a Mental Health Care Plan with Medicare.

so… there’s that.

after ~a year of wondering whether or not I should, I went to see a doctor this morning so that he could tell me why I’ve been feeling so miserable and alone for so long. I had to answer a lot of questions and then fill in a checklist from The Black Dog Institute. some of the questions there made me tear up. that’s probably a bad sign. anyway, hopefully I’m going to see a psychologist tomorrow, and then back to the doctor on Monday to see if I need medication. I’m glad that I had enough courage to actually make the appointment. I’ve spent a long time convinced that I was able to deal with all of my problems on my own, but my life recently has made me question whether or not I’m capable. I’ve lost all care for uni, I don’t hang out with friends (I don’t really have that many these days…), I don’t read or write anymore, I’m using excessive amounts of alcohol and drugs so that I don’t have to deal with things, and I get extremely anxious over small things like leaving the house. anyway, we’ll see how this goes.

tonight, my cat Chloe was hit and killed by a car.

I was driving up my street after soccer training, and almost crashed my car when I glimpsed a little ginger lump on the side of the road. I ran inside, asked mum where she was, and ran back out onto the street. I kneeled down next to her and burst into tears. I haven’t stopped sobbing for about half an hour. this is the last photo I took of her.

we always called her and her twin Charlie “our babies”.

she’ll always be my baby.
